The legend about the Louny foundation

On the river bank not far away from the old village the new neighbors, two brothers Sobes and Vlasak, settled. One night they attacked the sleeping village and killed all inhabitants. Some of them drown in the river. They stole the stock and food. The village, which was visited by merchants very often, was only the burnt left. Some men escaped the disaster and went to Prague to the King to complain about the murders and arson. The king invited Sobes and Vlasak and offered them a choice to build a new village or to be executed. The brothers were scared by the royal punishment, and promised to build new houses and walls, to protect the new village against any future enemy. They called the village by the river Eger “Luna” and that is the beginning of our town.
